For students who have flair for natural science and the desire to contribute towards ensuring the sustainability of Aquatic Environment and in wealth creation through efficient management of aquatic resources, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture is the right place. In Umudike, the teaching is approached with the understanding of its multi-disciplinary status and students are educated to have broadened mindset to accommodate knowledge from other fields of learning (such as Health Sciences, Engineering, Management Sciences, Physical and Chemical Sciences as well as Arts courses); which contributes in packaging training in Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management.
The Academic Staff of the Department are committed professionals who are always interested in ensuring the students’ understanding of the taught courses. The non-academic staff in the department are approachable and always available to assist the students. Our fish farm where students are exposed to practical art of commercial fish farming stand tall as uncommon facility in other department of Fisheries and Aquaculture of many universities. Modern laboratory/laboratory equipment are available for teaching and research purposes. Our students are guided by qualified and well experienced laboratory staff that are always available for the students.
