Professor Patrick A. Ogwo is the current Director University Advancement and a Professor of Environmental Management and Toxicology. He was former Head of the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. He received his Bachelor of Agriculture degree in Horticulture from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, MSC and PhD degrees in Environmental Management from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike and Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu. He was the General Manger of Borikan Technical Services Ltd and Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Pfaikon Technology Ltd. He started his University teaching career in the Department of Environmental Resource Management, Abia State University, Uturu in 2006. He has been an Environmental Consultant to some International Organizations including SABMiller Breweries, Laga International, Canada International Development Agency (CIDA), United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), the Nigerian Environment Study (NEST) Action Team and Wetlands International among others. Prof. Patrick Ogwo is a member of several Environmental Professional bodies among which are the Environmental Management of Association of Nigeria (EMAN) which he is currently the Chairman Abia State Chapter, Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria, Environmental Sustainability Working Group; Member of International Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Analysts, Member, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and the International Institute of Environmental Management Assessment. Prof P. A. Ogwo served as Consultant and Work Group Chairman, Natural Resource Subgroup of National Adaptation Strategy and Plan of Action (NASPA) and the BNRCC’s Climate Change Adaptation Strategy Technical Report (CCASTR), member of the EIA Review Panel for SABMiller Breweries, Onitsha, Environmental Consultant to Marcel and Marcel Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He served in several capacities as a resource person and consultant to several bodies including Training and Workshop for Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources on ISO 14001, the Wetland International. Prof. Ogwo has 60 publications including journals, book chapters, technical papers and reports. He has attended over 25 conferences across the continents of Africa, America, Canada and Europe. He has successfully supervised several students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is a recipient of so many awards including: the Prestigious University of Nigeria-Igara Nmecha Award for the best Graduating Member of Club 4-1 (1982); best Graduating Student in the Sub-Department of Horticulture, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; a two-time Federal Government of Nigeria Postgraduate Awardee to the United States of America in 1983 and 2001, Abia State University Environmental Star Awardee in July, 2008; the African AGE International Magazine Grand Achiever in Public Service Award for Excellence (2013) just to mention a few. He is married with children and likes reading, team work, research and publication.
