History - Environmental Management and Toxicology

On June 27, 2012, Senate of MOUAU, at its 144th Regular Meeting approved the creation of the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology with effect from the 2012/2013 academic session and charged it to award the degree of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Toxicology (B. EMT). It took the efforts Prof. (Mrs.) G. C. Onuoha, Prof. P. A. Ogwo and Dr. (Mrs.) C. Nwakanma, Dr. A. I. Okeke and Prof. E. C. Nzegbule for the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology to be established as one of the degree awarding departments in the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Management.

The Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike is designed to provide a thorough understanding of environmental management especially as it relates to depletion, recycling and reuse of resources and the impact of science and technology on the environment. The Department is a centre for training, excellence, creativity and innovation in the resuscitation and sustainable management of polluted/degraded environments and will, therefore, provide skilled manpower trained specially for environmental sustainability and surveillance, monitoring and management of ever occurring environmental degradation.

Environment Management and Toxicology
